PLANNING: TOP LINE AND BIG QUESTION

Film Research

When discussing ideas for our film we decided it would be a wise idea to research current action and adventure films, this helped us to gather ideas for our opening scene. One film in particular was Mission Impossible – Ghost protocol which was a fourth installment to the popular Mission Impossible franchise. In this movie the main protagonist, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), is blamed for a terrorist attack on the Kremlin, and his entire agency are disavowed by the U.S. government, while the president initiates the Ghost Protocol. Ethan and his team are forced to go "off the grid". Left without resources or backup Hunt must somehow clear the agency's name and prevent another attack. This film gave us inspiration for the high-tech equipment being used our opening and also helped us to form a plot.

Frank Ash Research

We watched a video of Frank Ash, a creative consultant for the BBC Academy, explaining how to be successful making a film. After making some notes and reflecting on his comments, I found that they were very helpful through the process of planning out and creating our own cinematic production. He teaches creativity and storytelling techniques. In addition, he enforces the importance of targeting a specific audience and this can be achieved by deciding your top line and big question.

Top line

An Inventor who works for a highly identified company ‘Robotica’ , creates the newest display of technology in the form of AI. Himself with another inventor took the robot home to enhance the technology however it all goes horribly wrong.

The Big Question

"Is this the start of AI take over?"
